The Serendipity of the Shoot

Most Studio Photographers have a “Book of Poses” from which to draw, whether a literal book or one in our mind. Many times, I’ll go for one of my tried and true’s but then it becomes very clear this one just won’t work in this situation. No big worry, I’m usually pretty good at thinking on my feet so we just move on from there and go with the flow.

This little guy was not in a cooperative mood, but he loves to climb. This ladder made all the difference.

Over thinking poses, doesn’t add to the result. It removes some of the spontaneous wonderful-ness that sometimes takes place.

Merriam-Webster says, A serendipitist is "one who finds valuable or agreeable things not sought for." I like that! Especially when I can stand back from the plans I’ve made and see that the best things can happen outside of what I expected.

Call me to set up our own "serendipitist" time together.
